A game in training

Sorry for the late post again.. I had to follow my mother out till very late and then my sister used so i had no time to post. Anyway i will post it now. Yesterday morning i went for training and before the training ended we had to play matches. First, we played doubles. I partnered Leon and played with Ryan and Lester. We won straight sets 21-18 21-19. Then, we played singles with coach. I lost to coach 11-4. Haiz.

Then, i played singles with Lester and i lost 21-18. Again, haiz... Then i played singles with Leon and lost 25-23. Again! Haiz! What to do? Luck not on my side. After that, Timothy(my old partner) asked me to go Sarawak Club to play. I went to play with him and he was still as good as usual.. I lost to him 21-17 21-18. The last time i played i lostto him 21-11 21-13. So i am quite happy with the points which was counted quite close. I was happy to see that i could block his smash without much trouble unlike last time. Last time, 1 smash from the back is 50% i am going to lose. And, I won quite a number of points by smashing from the back as it hits the line a few times. Lol. This will be th end of my post for this time

SJS Open(2)

Sorry for the late post. I was at St Joseph and i was too tired to post when i come back. I lost to Adam Lau as i expected. However, it was closer then i expected. I expected it to be 21-10 21-10 but it ended up 21-17 21-12. I was quite happy with my performance especially the one which i jumped twice and still got to win the ball.

The disappointing part was in the second set. I was having the lead and got nervous and lost many points in the row. I was leading 11-10 and at that score, i tap the ball but the ball didnt go through. Since that ball, i played safe by trying to lob to the corners and not to smash that often. That brought the game to an end by him winning it 21-12. The happy part is in the first set. I was losing 20-13 and i chased with all hopes to be same like Lee Chong Wei and chased to 20-17 but made a mistake when the shuttle hit the tip of the net and Adam won the first set 21-17.

The coolest thing that happened yesterday was when Charles played with nikram.Charles dropped from the back then nikram net then Charles tapped the ball and hit the middle of nikram's specs and it broke into half. Half of it dropped on the floor and one side was still on his face. He walked to his bag and he was lucky to have brought a spare specs. However, he missed the first 2 or 3 balls after changing the specs. Because of that, Charles won the first set. nikram went all out to win the second set and Charles was tired so he just let nikram win. But he tried tapping nikram's specs again when he had the chance but nikram tried to avoid it and kept turning away from the net when he got tapped. In the end nikram won the second set. However, Charles played will full spirit again and won the last set without much trouble after he got used to the speed of nikram's smash. Charles won nikram 21-7 i tink.. in the third set. nikram gave up hope when it reached 18-7. He just purposely missed the service which Charles gave him. The coolest thing is... i never knew that nikram can lose 4 points or more just because of Charles' service! Cool! Today's match will be Charles VS Luqman. I cant wait to watch it! BYE!

SJS Open

I joined the SJS(St Joseph) Open which started today. I joined the under-14 age group. I lost my doubles to two Form twos 21-10 21-10. I partnered Timothy Chan. However, I will try harder next year as my opponents would be joining the under-15 category and not the under-14 category. Today, I won my singles against a malay named Kalmaruddin. I won him 21-5 21-4. I feel sad for him, but at the same time, i had to play seriously or i will lose my momentum. However, he is a lot better than my friend(The Cheater).

He wasnt angry with me after the match and he shook hands with me, unlike my friend(The Cheater).I am happy although i lost in my doubles as i had tried my best and i will also strive for excellence. I hope all badminton players will not give up and try their best no matter what. An example is Lee Chong Wei who won the Malaysia Super Series Badminton Open in Kuching in 2006 when he was losing to Lin Dan(World No.1) 20-13 in the third set(rubber set). He managed to chase to 20-20 and Lin Dan got a point which makes it 21-20 but Lee Chong Wei did not want to waste his efforts he had put in to get 7 points in a row and forced three points in a row out of Lin Dan ending the match 23-21. Because of this match his ranking went to World No.1 from World No.2 and Lin Dan went down to rank No.2. However, Lin Dan, too, did not give up and fought hard to regain his title as World No.1 and regain his nickname 'Super Dan' in just 2- 4 weeks.

Tomorrow, i will be meeting Adam Lau, a twin, who is very good in badminton, in quarter-finals. He beat Timothy Chan, Benjamin Teo and Shau Ching last year in Kason Open. However, i will try to beat him and go all out tomorrow. I would be very happy if i beat him but i will be happy if i give him a fight and make it either 21-19 or deuce. It did be better to play rubber set. But of course, beating him is the best. Even if i beat him, i will no get through the semi-finals which i will meet Jeremy Toh. Jeremy Toh was last year under 12-champion and had ever beaten Anthony Lim(now in Bukit Jalil). No matter what, i will still go all out till i lose in this competition as it will be a good memory if i beat Adam Lau.

WHY Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah? WHY NOT Zakry-Fairurizuan?

I wonder why Rexy Mainaky chose Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah.This pair is good but once the pressure is high, they will not play well, unlike Zakry-Fairurizuan, who played under high pressure in Thomas Cup, but still they play GREATLY. This might be the last year veteran shuttlers Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah will play but the Olympics is to be played by the best players and not just because it is the last year playing. I rather Zakry and Fairurizuan to play as the play superbly in the recent Thomas Cup and their smash averaging from (200-250) km/h or more.

They were not pushed back by the pressure that if they lost it will be the end of the Thomas Cup for Malaysia. And cause of that, they won with bright colours. If they played in Olympics they have more chance as they might not be pushed back by the pressure.Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah had also always played defense and that makes them hard to get points and they will have a lot of disadvantage as their smash is not as strong as Zakry-Fairurizuan. I suggest that BAM should make a match between Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Zakry-Fairurizuan to see who has what it takes to go for the Olympics as it is an extremely important competition and Malaysia had NEVER, I repeat NEVER GOT AN OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL FOR BADMINTON. Zakry-Fairurizuan might take it for the first time as their hardest challenge will be Lee Yong Dae-Jung Jae Sung. I hope BAM would choose Zakry-Fairurizuan.

You know who u are...

Well, this appears to be my second blog in 1 year time. Someone (you know who the hell you are) critise on my first blog. I have been spending my time looking through your blog and I found out that your blog is worse than mine. IF YOU DON'T LIKE BADMINTON, U CAN JUST CLICK THE RED BUTTON ON THE RIGHT CORNER. YOU SHOULD NEVER COME BACK THE SECOND TIME IF YOU HATE BADMINTON! BADMINTON ROX! Angry with me just because you lose to me 21-10 21-5 in the school competition!? WHAT THE HECK! Want me to give you rubber set and all close points around 19! WHAT THE HECK! What happens if i made a mistake in rubber set and lose to you just because i let you get points!? And by the way IT IS A COMPETITION NOT JUST A MATCH...Hope you understand...

Will it be Tan Fook-Wan Wah or Fairuzizuan-Zakry

Although Lee Wan Wah-Choong Tan Fook has a higher ranking, i still rather zakry and tazari to go for the Olympics because of their recent good performance in the Thomas Cup.

IT is still not decided if veteran pair Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah or Zakry Latif-Fairuzizuan Tazari will join Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong on the flight to Beijing for the Olympics.

National doubles coach Rexy Mainaky confirmed yesterday that World No 5 Kien Keat-Boon Heong have impressed him enough to play in the Olympics.

"Kien Keat-Boon Heong are not back at their best but they are making progress. They are now focused and mentally prepared for the Olympics but their hearts are still not on winning the gold medal," said Rexy at the National Sports Council (NSC) in Bukit Jalil yesterday.

"However, a little fine-tuning could do the job for them. I will be able to do it when they compete innext month's Singapore Open and Indonesia Open.

"Believe me, if they are back to their best, they will win the Olympic gold medal."

Although the three Malaysian pairs have qualified for the Beijing Games on merit, Olympic regulations state only two can compete in the event.

However, Rexy was less impressed with Tan Fook and Wan Wah.

"I'm still in doubt whether they are mentally prepared for the Olympics. I'm sceptical after what had happened to them in the recent Thomas Cup." he said.

Rexy is especially unhappy with Tan Fook for falling sick at the eleventh hour before the semi-final clash against China.

"If I was Tan Fook, I would have still played. I don't know now whether they put themselves first before the country. If that is so, then there's a big problem.

" He also wrote off Tan Fook-Wan Wah's chances of winning Olympic gold. On Zakry-Fairuzizuan, the coach said the pair have the desire and heart for glory.

"The fire within them will be a plus in the Olympics, however, the BA of Malaysia (BAM) coaching committee may opt for the two senior pairs.

"I have two pairs in my mind now but the final decision will be made by the coaching committee."

Malaysians should come out tops in Singapore Open

The absence of the Chinese and South Korean big guns will present Lee Chong Wei and the doubles pair of Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong the better chance to come out triumphant from the Singapore Open scheduled for June 10-15.

World number one Lin Dan will be giving the fifth leg of the Super Series a skip together with Bao Chunlai and Chen Jin, who are now ranked third and fourth in the world respectively. Also sitting out are the top two Koreans, Park Sung-hwan and Lee Hyun-il.

The only Chinese representative in the singles is Chen Yu, who will not feature in the Beijing Olympics in August.

World number two Chong Wei will be gunning for his second Super Series title this year after lifting the Malaysian Open in January and he is the top seed ahead of Danish veteran Kenneth Jonassen.

In the Singapore Open last year, Chong Wei was beaten by fellow Malaysian Mohd Hafiz Hashim in the first round.

Five other Malaysians will join Chong Wei and Hafiz to play in the main draw. They are Wong Choong Hann, Roslin Hashim, Lee Tsuen Seng, Sairol Amar Ayob and Yeoh Kay Bin.

Indonesia have Sony Dwi Kuncoro, Taufik Hidayat and Simon Santoso in the fray while Thailand’s Boonsak Ponsana will be defending the title.

Defending champions Fu Haifeng-Cai Yun of China and in-form Koreans Lee Yong-dae-Jung Jae-sung are among the top pairs missing from the men's doubles competition.

Their absence leaves world number one Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan and the Danish pair of Jonas Rasmussen-Lars Paaske as the early favourites to win the title.

The Singapore Open presents the chance for Kien Keat-Boon Heong to make amends for their first-round defeat by team-mates Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Latif in last year's tournament.

Kien Keat-Boon Heong, who are currently ranked fifth in the world, not only have to improve on their rankings but they also have to boost their confidence ahead of the Beijing Olympics.

A question mark remains on the participation of veterans Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah as the latter came down with a right shoulder injury in the Thomas Cup Finals in Jakarta last week.

Doubles chief coach Rexy Mainaky said that he should know by next week if Wan Wah could feature in the Open.

“Wan Wah is on a one-week leave and I have to talk to him about his latest condition. In the meantime, we have submitted their entry together with those of all the other pairs in the national team,” he said.

Tan Fook-Wan Wah were the runners-up last year and if they get to start, they will be the second seeds.

My badminton idol!

My badminton idol is Malaysia's Lee Chong Wei although he is world no.2 and not no.1. The world no.1 Lin Dan is a very 'good' player but his attitude makes me dislike him. Lee Chong Wei's attitude is a lot more matured than that of Lin Dan and that is one of the reason why i choose him as my idol instead of his good badminton play especially when he plays offensive

Starting a new blog

My old blog's email address is http://onlybadminton.blogspot.com

I created this new blog as the old blog was a failure.. an opinion from somebody. so now i will create a new blog alongside a friend of mine who likes badminton as much as i do...
